Piro is an American success story. Born in Lebanon, he escaped the civil war and moved to the US when he was twelve. Piro also served in the US Air Force and entered law enforcement as a police officer in California. He was selected to question Saddam based on his interrogation and native Arabic language skills and the belief Saddam would identify with a young, upwardly moving Arab man.
