As the United States economy continues to recover from the Great Recession, hiring is expected to rise. According to the 2015 Employment Screening Benchmark Report published by HireRight, a Corporate Risk Holdings company, 76% of respondents intend to grow their operations this year.  Similarly, a slight majority of respondents (51%) say that finding and retaining talent is their top challenge — one that is shared by businesses of all sizes.

Making the wrong hiring decisions can wreak financial havoc on an organization. According to the Society for Human Resources Management, a mis-hire can cost an organization up to five times the individual hire’s salary.  It’s not simply that the bad hire’s salary is wasted. According to the Harvard Business Review, 80% of employee turnover can be attributed to bad hiring decisions.
